Poseidon Base is an underwater military base and command center owned and operated by the private military company Skyshroud and located in international waters off the coast of Tonga, in the vicinity of the Tonga Trench. Its precise location is unknown.
Completed in 2020 at a cost of nearly $55 billion, Poseidon Base is the world's only fully-operational underwater military facility as well as the world's only nuclear-capable military facility fully operated by a private company. It has been confirmed that the base holds at least two and possibly up to eight nuclear-enabled ICBM missiles capable of being launched either directly from its underwater launch facility or from the Vanguard-class submarine Revenant (formerly known as HMS Vengeance).
