James David Vance (born 2 August 1984) is an American politician who served as the 48th President of the United States from 20 January 2029 to 19 January 2037. Prior to this, he served as the 50th Vice President of the United States under Donald J. Trump.
In 2049, Vance was prosecuted and convicted for his role in organizing the Christmas Day Bombing on 25 December 2031 which claimed the lives of seven people, including two United States Senators. In a long-running trial watched by billions of people worldwide, it was revealed that Vance authorized the attack while serving as President for the purposes of providing a false justification for declaring a state of martial law and introducing the Sedition Act, both of which were intended to help him consolidate political power in the run-up to an election.
On 17 October 2049, Vance was sentenced to six consecutive life terms. He is the first former President to be be imprisoned.
