Sheikh Musa Mokhtar bin Kassem al-Ansari (Arabic: موسى مختار الأنصاري, born 18 August 1981) is a member of the Yemeni royal family and a younger brother of Emir Ayyub Fahad al-Ansari. He has been serving since 20 March 2025 as Governor of Al-Jarrahi Principality. Prior to the formation of the Emirate of Yemen, he served for 23 years as an infantry officer in the Republic of Yemen Army, attaining the rank of captain.
Sheikh Musa is known for leading an indulgent and excessive billionaire lifestyle. His wealth largely stems from his ownership of Al-Jarrahi Holding Corp., which has a monopoly over agricultural land rights, natural resources and utilities in the Al-Jarrahi Principality. It was reported in 2034 that the company pays him a tax-free salary of $125 million a year, in addition to cash dividends of up to $200 million. He is also known to engage in corruption and graft in his business dealings with foreign investors, often receiving fees for influencing the policy decisions of his brother, the Emir, and his cabinet.
It is widely believed that Sheikh Musa was granted a royal governorship over a rural and isolated region of Yemen in order to ensure that he would not cause any distractions to the business of government in Sana'a. Unlike many other members of the al-Ansari family, he has never been appointed to any government positions since the formation of the Emirate.
"Quite simply, Sheikh Musa is one of the most hated people in all of Yemen. He has developed a reputation for being indulgent, egotistical and cruel. These days, he keeps himself holed up in his personal fiefdom of Al-Jarrahi because it is clear that the Emir and his government don't want him involved in affairs of state.
While there are some segments of the population living off less than $2 per day, Sheikh Musa spends millions on his jets, yachts, cars and whores. He even has caviar and truffles flown in on a daily basis. It's unbelievable."
